Installing versaSRS on Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista or Windows 7

Windows Vista

To successfully install versaSRS HelpDesk on either Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Vista - Prior to installing versaSRS HelpDesk - do the following:


User Account Control (UAC)
must be disabled. This setting is enabled by default.

To disable UAC, perform the following:

- Type "msconfig" in the Run From Start menu to open "System Configuration".
- Select the "Tools" Tab in System Configuration.
- Select the "Disable UAC" tool and click on the "Launch" button.
- Restart the computer. (This is required to reflect the updated settings.)

 
Windows IIS Settings

IIS 6 Management Compatibility must be checked. To enable this setting, perform the following:

- Open "Control Panel" and ensure "Control Panel Home" is the current view.
- Click the "Uninstall a program" link from the Programs menu item.
- Select "Turn Windows features on or off" from the Tasks menu.
- Expand Internet Information Services > Web Management Tools node.
Check the "IIS 6 Management Compatibility" node. Ensure the nodes under this are checked as well. Then, click "OK".


Enable Windows Authentication, Forms Authentication and Basic Authentication in IIS 7

- Open "Control Panel" and ensure "Control Panel Home" is the current view.
- Click the "Uninstall a program" link from the Programs menu item.
- Select "Turn Windows features on or off" from the Tasks menu.
- Expand Internet Information Services > World Wide Web Services > Security node.
- Enable Basic Authentication, Forms Authentication and Windows Authentication

Under IIS 7 you may also need to enable Forms Authentication for the versaSRS application (virtual directory).


Enable ASP.Net

- Open "Control Panel" and ensure "Control Panel Home" is the current view.
- Click the "Uninstall a program" link from the Programs menu item.
- Select "Turn Windows features on or off" from the Tasks menu.
- Expand Internet Information Services > World Wide Web Services > Application Development Features node.
- Enable .NET Extensibility, ASP.NET, ISAPI Extensions, ISAPI Filters
