Morning Guys,

I'm trying to install the community edition and I think I'm pretty close, except when I try to access the SRS from a browser I get the following error:

Quote:

.Net SqlClient Data Provider - A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

The installation wasn't straight forward, but using the information here on the forums I've got pretty close. This error is similar to what I was getting when trying to use localhost\sqlexpress rather than the machinename\sqlexpress when installing, but I've replaced all of the references to "localhost" in the application settings table with the machine name.

Any ideas what's going on, and any way to resolve?

Thanks in advance.

Karloskar

System
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
SQL 2008 R2 Express 32-bit
VersaSRS 4.1.0

Hi,

I have included a link below to a KB article which offers a possible solution to this problem.

Thanks Philip. I did see that one, and "allow remote connections to this server" is selected.

Also, I'm getting a couple of emails a minute at the moment saying that people are replying to this post - something's up with the forum software, I think.
